The STAR Program (Safety Training Awards Recognition) is a great innovative effort by
Painters' District Council No. 14 and its employer partners, Chicago PDCA/FCA, and
GDCNI, working through the JATC/DFTC School to create fresh incentives for Safety
Training and Continuing Education within the Union workforce.
STAR requires at least 1000 hours of work with at least 800 safe hours to qualify for
inclusion in the program, offering the opportunity to win very substantial prizes.
A minimum of 10 credits of safety training is worth one ticket and 30 additional
credits safety and/or skills classes will give you one additional ticket for drawings.
All program participants must have fully-documented safe work and continuing education records.

At the end of the year, a banquet is held for the workers. All qualified participants
will be entered into a drawing to win a variety of prizes, one of which is a vehicle (one
prize per participant). In addition, every attendee will receive a valuable door prize.
STAR participants are at liberty to select from available Journeyman Upgrading courses
for 10/15/30 credits of Skills Training, and may choose their Safety Training credits
from the following:
